Andrew Knopf recently represented the family of a single father whose two children were left parentless after a truck collided with Mr. Mendy while he was riding his bicycle to work. Mr. Mendy and the driver of the truck were unable to see each other while they both approached an intersection because a privacy fence and a large hedge on the property owner’s apartment complex obstructed their view. Mr. Knopf examined the subject intersection and uncovered evidence showing that the sight lines were obstructed and the property owner was in violation of a city ordinance restricting certain obstructions at intersections. Mr. Knopf vigorously advocated for Mr. Mendy’s family and after a week long jury trial, the jury returned with a verdict of $2.75 million dollars.
